Internet Blackjack
Internet blackjack is almost identical to playing the game in a live casino. Blackjack gamblers play against the house and not against player opponents; this means they are losing nothing by not being able to look at the people at their table.
Internet Blackjack Tables
Whether you play Internet blackjack or visit a casino, the game is played at a blackjack table; the table seats a dealer and usually up to seven players. There are betting squares printed on the table in front of each player.
Internet Blackjack: How to Play
Once each player makes a wager, the dealer gives each player two cards. In most casinos and Internet blackjack games, the cards are all dealt face up. The dealer also receives two cards, but only one of these is exposed.
In turn, players have the opportunity to hit and take more cards, trying to get their totals as close as possible to the goal of 21 points without exceeding it. In general, players with 17 or more points will not risk hitting their hand. Players with fewer than 17 points often choose to hit, however, players must look at the dealer’s exposed card and calculate the odds of the dealer getting closer to 21 than the player, and the dealers chances of busting or exceeding the goal of 21 points.
When a player exceeds 21 points in Internet blackjack, that is an immediate loss. All other players wait until the dealer’s turn. While rules vary depending on the casino where you play Internet blackjack, generally the dealer must hit any hand of 16 or fewer points. If the dealer busts, all remaining players in the hand win. If the player achieves some point value of 21 or less, the dealer’s hand is compared to each player’s cards. Players with more points than the dealer win; players with fewer points than the dealer lose. A tie is called a “push” and the player keeps his initial bet, but wins nothing.
